about the artist

Christo Muller was born in Pietermaritzburg in 1973. After completing his matric at Voortrekker High School in 1991 he was conscripted to do his national service. In 1995 Christo went overseas and spent time in London. The tremendous freedom and ability to express himself freely that he experienced there had an enormous impact on him and he carries that with him still. Christo bought his first film SLR camera in 2006 and it was love at first sight. in 2007 he bought a digital SLR camera, which opened an entire universe of possibilities for expression and creativity.

In 2007 Christo met Sandra Hanekom at the Vuleka Art Competition. She has since become a friend, mentor and major influence in his career as an artist. In 2007 he was included in "flesh" which was curated by Chris Diedericks and still considers this an honour and his crowning achievement so far next to his selection as finalist in the 2007 Vuleka Art Competition.

In 2008 Christo concentrated more on his commercial photography and necessarily took part in fewer art exhibitions. However, he has recommitted himself to his career as an artist and is currently working with Mark Freebs on a collaboration. He is also currently shooting for a solo exhibition which he plans to show at the end of 2012.

In 2011 Christo established Morgaen-Photographic Studio with his wife, and inspiration, Monique. He currently works out of his studio in the Strand.
